PK-12 School Arrival & Dismissal Plan: Construction Update
Due to expected construction beginning soon, our school's arrival and dismissal procedures have been updated to ensure the safety and efficiency of student pick-up and drop-off. We appreciate your cooperation and patience as we navigate these changes to procedures during this process. Please review the following plan carefully.
General Guidelines
Safety First: Always prioritize the safety of students and staff. Adhere to all posted signs, staff directions, and traffic laws.
Patience is Key: Expect potential delays, especially during the initial days of these new procedures.
Stay in Your Vehicle: For the safety and efficiency of the process, parents should remain in their vehicles unless otherwise directed by staff.
Display Pick-Up Tags: Ensure your student's pick-up tag (if applicable) is clearly visible for staff to see. If you need a new pick up tag, or an additional tag, please contact the front office or email Emily.Calvin@frostisd.org
Arrival Procedures: (Parent Drop-Off)
To ensure a smooth and safe start to the school day, the following arrival procedures will be in place for all students arriving via parent drop-off:
Drop-Off Location:
All parent drop-offs will take place at the front entrance of the school by the flagpoles.Drop-off will operate as one single line of vehicles.
For safety and efficiency, please remain in your vehicle and allow students to exit to the school side only. Do not allow students to exit into the street,
Entry Point:
All students will enter the building through the front doors.Student Reporting Locations:
PK–5th Grade Students: Will report directly to the cafeteria upon entering the building.
6th Grade, Junior High (JH) and High School (HS) Students:
Will wait in the designated waiting area across from the Library, until the bell rings. 6th graders will report to the library if a student is not in athletics.
Once the bell rings:
6th graders and JH Students will report to the cafeteria after Elementary students have cleared.
HS Students will report directly to their first period class.
This plan is designed to maintain student safety, reduce congestion, and allow for appropriate supervision and transitions.

Bus Arrival and Dismissal Procedures
To ensure a safe and efficient process for student transportation, all students who ride the bus will arrive and dismiss through the cafeteria area.
Morning Arrival:
Bus students will be dropped off at the designated bus unloading zone near the cafeteria entrance. Upon arrival, students will enter the building through the cafeteria doors and remain in the cafeteria until they are released to their respective areas.Afternoon Dismissal:
At the end of the school day, bus riders will report to the cafeteria for dismissal. Buses will line up in the designated loading zone, and students will be called in an orderly manner to board their assigned bus.
This plan is designed to streamline supervision, improve safety, and minimize congestion during arrival and dismissal times.
If adjustments are necessary due to weather or other circumstances, staff will be notified in advance.
Dismissal Procedures (car pick up)
Please note the distinct pick-up locations and traffic flows based on your student's grade level and sibling status.
PK-5 and 6th-8th Students with Elementary Siblings
Location: Auditorium on Wyrick Street.
Traffic Flow:
Wyrick Street will be one-way during dismissal.
Approach: Parents must turn right onto Wyrick Street from Pace Street.
Queuing: As you turn right onto Wyrick Street, please form two lines all the way down to the Auditorium.
Loading: Staff will load eight cars at a time. No car needs to move while student groups are loading cars. Please wait until you are motioned to move forward to ensure safety.
Release: Cars will be released one line at a time, merging back into a single line as they exit down Wyrick Street.
Exit: Continue straight down Wyrick Street to Highway 22.
Important Restriction: Parents may not turn right onto Hughes Street from Wyrick Street.
Junior High (JH) Only Students (No Elementary Siblings)
Location: Portables.
Traffic Flow:
Approach: Parents will need to enter Hughes Street coming from town towards the school only.
Pick-Up: Stop at the portables to pick up your JH student, continue to the stop sign and then parents must turn right only onto Wyrick and exit via Wyrick to Hwy 22.
6th Graders (No Elementary Siblings) & High School (HS) Students
Release: High School students will be released from the door on the high school hallway and allowed to go to the student parking lot.
Parent Pick-Up Location: Parents who need to pick up a 6th grader (no elementary siblings) or High School student can do so at the corner of Hughes and Wyrick Street.
Traffic Flow for Pick-Up: Parents picking up students should also enter Hughes Street coming from town towards the school only. Once you pick up your student, parents must turn right only onto Wyrick and exit via Wyrick to Hwy 22.
Students who are walkers will go to the cafeteria for dismissal and will be released to walk home after the buses are gone
Important Reminders
Follow Staff Directions: Our staff will be on hand to direct traffic and assist with student loading. Please follow their instructions diligently.
No Parking in Restricted Areas: Do not park in fire lanes, bus lanes, or any other restricted areas.
Be Mindful of Pedestrians: Watch for students walking to and from school, especially near crosswalks or crossing the street to student parking and/or to the portables. .
We understand that changes to established routines can be challenging, but these adjustments are necessary to maintain a safe and orderly environment during the construction period. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
